What is an AMRAP?
AMRAP commonly means As Many Rounds or Repetitions As Possible. The workout sets a duration within which you accumulate the prescribed work. Read whether the result is rounds plus repetitions, total repetitions or another exercise-specific measure.
Read the sequence before starting
Check exercise order, repetitions, distances, loads and standards. If several AMRAP blocks appear, identify their work and rest periods separately. A fixed time does not make every AMRAP equally demanding.
Count completed work
In a rounds-plus-repetitions score, record full rounds and then valid repetitions in the unfinished round. Do not count that partial round as complete. A workout combining distances, calories and repetitions needs its own scoring convention.
Manage the rounds
Choose an opening pace that can be repeated. Observe set sizes, transition time and whether a technical movement creates long interruptions. Adjust movements or volume before starting with your coach.
Compare attempts
Record duration, loads, variations and score. Similar totals from different versions are not equivalent. An AMRAP measures work in fixed time; For Time measures the time for fixed work.
