What is the CrossFit Open?
The Open is CrossFit’s annual online competition. Published workouts let participants complete defined tasks and submit scores to a leaderboard. People take part for different reasons: a first competition experience, training feedback or a competitive objective.
The season’s registration, eligibility, divisions and progression rules belong to the official rulebook. Do not infer current qualification requirements from a previous year.
Choose the correct workout version
Each workout page provides the relevant prescriptions and scorecards. Division, age category and workout option can change movements, loads and scoring. Read the complete version you intend to perform.
Use the official Open overview and the season’s competition rules for current entry and participation information.
Prepare equipment and standards
Before an attempt, check permitted equipment, weights, target heights, floor markings and camera requirements where relevant. Rehearse transitions and agree the repetition standard with the judge.
A general technique article does not replace an official movement standard. The scorecard also explains incomplete work, time caps and any tie-break requirement.
Complete and submit the score
Check the official submission window and its time zone before the workout. Leave time to submit the result and meet the applicable validation or video requirements. An unofficial training result does not become an official score simply because you recorded it.
Explore previous workouts
Wodball provides programmes and practical notes for 26.1, 26.2 and 26.3. You can also explore 25.1, 25.2 and 25.3.
Past workouts can be training references. Keep their year, division and version in your record instead of combining different prescriptions into a single comparison.
Use the experience constructively
Review pacing, movement consistency, transitions and the effect of nerves as well as rank. A leaderboard position depends on the field and scoring rules; it is not a complete assessment of your training.
Prepare a manageable attempt and recovery plan with your coach. If you use a personal adaptation outside the official options, record it as training rather than an eligible competition submission.
