Start from a current event listing

Before booking a Bordeaux trip around a race, identify the exact edition in the official HYROX directory. Confirm the venue, day and division rather than using an old city article as a timetable.

This guide covers preparation and planning. It does not claim current ticket availability or establish that a future Bordeaux edition is confirmed.

Understand the standard format

HYROX combines eight 1 km runs with eight workout stations. Read the tasks and category rules rather than assuming a generic circuit of heavy exercises is equivalent.

Our station guide explains the programme, including sled work and the other stations. The division guide covers individual, Doubles and Relay differences.

Choose a category without assuming a beginner exemption

The older source suggests a special beginner category with modified exercises. Do not rely on that claim. Entry categories and their prescribed tasks come from the current organiser's rules.

Open is not a promise that movements or loads will be individually reduced during the race. Use the beginner guide to prepare questions and understand the demands before entering.

Train with clear priorities

Practise unfamiliar station movements, develop appropriate running work and rehearse transitions in controlled sessions. Your preparation should match the format you booked.

The training guide helps organise the week. The PFT article offers another fitness reference without treating a short test as a guaranteed race prediction.

Plan the journey and the city visit separately

Use the venue and athlete entrance as the endpoint for race-day travel. The historic centre and riverside are city attractions, not evidence of an outdoor race route.

Leave time for check-in and the required preparation. Plan other activities around your actual start, transport and how you feel afterwards rather than assuming sightseeing is part of the competition.
