Tribute and November connection
Amer is listed as a Hero WOD. The commemorative reference is 30 November 2009, the date Acting Sergeant John Paxton Amer died, confirmed by the UK Ministry of Defence. This date should not be presented as the programme’s publication date.
Understand the programme
Complete four rounds of the triplet: 12 deadlifts, 24 burpees and 36 box jumps in total. The stated deadlift load is 1.5 times bodyweight; for a 70 kg athlete that means 105 kg. Box heights are 24/20 inches, approximately 61/51 cm. A low repetition count does not make the loading suitable for everyone.
Manage pacing and equipment
Prepare the deadlift progressively with increasing warm-up loads rather than maximal attempts. Leave sufficient space between the bar and box and reset your footing before each jump. A fast round does not justify rushing the deadlift setup.
Adapt the session
Choose a controlled load independently of the bodyweight ratio. Step-ups onto a lower stable support can replace box jumps, while burpees can use an appropriate fixed elevated hand support. Record load, height and variations for a meaningful comparison between attempts.
Scoring and comparison
Score total elapsed time for the prescribed work. No universal time cap is added here. If your coach sets a session cap, record completed work at the cap along with loads and variations. Compare attempts using the same version; honouring the person does not depend on performing RX.
