Tribute and November connection

Kevin honours Navy Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Kevin Ebbert, killed on 24 November 2012. CrossFit lists the workout’s first publication as 24 August 2014. The November date is the annual commemorative reference.

Understand the programme

Complete the three stations in order each round. The current CrossFit page prescribes 185/125 lb for the barbell (about 84/57 kg) and 15/10 lb per dumbbell (about 6.8/4.5 kg), listed men/women. Count 32 total hanging hip touches with alternating arms, not 32 per side. Total volume is 96 deadlifts, 96 touches and 2,400 m of loaded travel.

Manage pacing and equipment

All three stations tax the grip. Break deadlifts before holding the bar becomes difficult and use a clear carry route. Have hanging hip touches demonstrated before the session: hanging while alternately releasing a hand requires specific control.

Adapt the session

Adjust load, repetitions and/or distance to your experience. Walking with the weights can replace running; a suitable two-handed hang or floor exercise can replace hip touches with coaching guidance. Record these changes as adaptations rather than comparing the result with the full prescription.

Scoring and comparison

Score total elapsed time for the prescribed work. No universal time cap is added here. If your coach sets a session cap, record completed work at the cap along with loads and variations. Compare attempts using the same version; honouring the person does not depend on performing RX.
