Use double-unders within a clear programme
A double-under passes the rope under your feet twice during one jump. Adding it to a circuit introduces a skill demand as well as conditioning. A sequence can become difficult because of repeated misses, not only because of fitness.
Practise the movement separately when learning. Our double-under guide and rope-length guide cover supporting topics.
Flight Simulator: an ascending and descending ladder
The French article presents the following sequence of unbroken double-under sets for time:
5-10-15-20-25-30-35-40-45-50-45-40-35-30-25-20-15-10-5.
That is nineteen sets, not only the ten ascending stages described in part of the source. Agree the restart rule for an interrupted set and a time cap before beginning. Record any shortened ladder separately.
Annie: double-unders and sit-ups
Annie uses descending sets of 50-40-30-20-10 repetitions of double-unders and sit-ups. The full programme totals 150 repetitions of each movement.
Plan manageable sets and transitions. If you substitute single-unders, record the chosen repetition count rather than assuming a universal conversion produces an equivalent score.
The Triplet: a mixed AMRAP
The source presents a ten-minute AMRAP of 6 squat cleans at 55/30 kg, 12 pull-ups and 24 double-unders. This includes loaded lifting and pulling skills; it is not a bodyweight-only circuit.
Use this as the version described in the article, not proof that every programme called The Triplet uses the same prescription. Agree the load and movement variations with your coach.
Michael Haub: a minute-based version
The source lists a ten-minute EMOM with 4 front squats at 102/70 kg and 10 double-unders each minute. Those are substantial listed squat loads and are not a recommendation for every participant.
Rehearse the task and scale it before starting so that the intended recovery remains possible. A different load or repetition count creates an adapted version to record clearly.
Choose the right combination
Heavy lifting after skipping is not automatically active recovery. Consider the full sequence, skill demands and accumulated repetitions rather than labelling one movement a rest from another.
For an introductory session, a controlled period of rope practice may be more useful than a large named workout. Use the beginner selection and scaling guide to discuss alternatives.
